The expected reckoning between Spanish giants Lenovo Tenerife and Unicaja materialized in a long-anticipated BCL Grand Final between two of the league's heavyweights in Belgrade.
It took the best Marcelinho Huertas (27 points) to get the best of a combative, resilient Peristeri bwin in the first Final Four, earning the Canarios an opportunity to secure their third Basketball Champions League trophy.
The Liga Endesa team confirmed their fine offensive form with a 97-point performance, in what made the highest scoring Final Four game in Basketball Champions League history.
Ibon Navarro's Unicaja conquered the final for the first time, coming back from an 11-point deficit during the third quarter. Their 11 shots from three-point range ensured they crawled back into touching distance before making a move and overtaking Murcia at the end of the third quarter.
It was a tough day for Unicaja who overcame adversities as a team, led by Tyson Carter's 15 points en route to a narrow 74-80 win.
The teams will face once again with high stakes after their BCL clash last season and meeting in Spain's Supercopa and Copa del Rey.
